As you already know, iPhone 13 comes with many exciting features, such as 120Hz refresh rate and cinematic mode. Also, all iPhone 13 models provide protection against dust, splashing and immersion in water – with limits. According to this feature, the iPhone 13 is not waterproof. But it is water resistant.

How waterproof is the iPhone 13?

The iPhone 13 is not completely waterproof. However, all iPhone 13 models, i.e. iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are all water resistant with IP68 rating.

IP ratings fall under the International Electrotechnical Commission standard. This shows how well the devices are against dust and moisture. IP grades are an industry standard for electronic devices. You can see these in headphones, smartwatches, and other gadgets.

IP numbers come in two parts,

Dust protection: The first number here indicates the dust protection. Zero on the scale here means no protection. Six means totally sealed off.

Moisture resistance: The second number here indicates the water protection. The scale here ranges from zero which means no seal to nine which means complete protection against water pressure from multiple angles and hot water.

According to IP rates, the iPhone 13 is IP68. That means that these iPhone 13 models are well protected. But not completely waterproof. Water resistant.

It may be difficult for you to understand the meaning of this. Let’s see about that. If you suddenly drop your iPhone in a pool or take a photo in water, your iPhone 13 will be fine. According to Apple, all iPhone 13 models can work well in water up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.

Is there a waterproof iPhone?

You cannot even see an iPhone that is completely waterproof. But most of them that came after iPhone 7 are water resistant. Many iPhones have a water protection that is close to or close to the water protection of the iPhone 13.

If your iPhone is dunked in water, Apple recommends gently tapping your iPhone against your hand with the lightning connector facing down and drying it. Also, you should avoid using the lightning port to charge your iPhone until it is completely dry.

Devices like iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max hold IP68 rating. But you can’t go into deep water. These models come with IP68 protection and can be kept in water up to 4 meter depths for 30 minutes.

Also, devices like iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max can work for 30 minutes in 2 meters of water.

And most iPhones come with IP67 rating. These ratings offer dust protection and can stay in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Among these devices you will find iPhone SE, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus.

Also, if coffee, tea or juice spilled on the above iPhones, nothing will happen. If you want to clean your iPhone, avoid using Apple soaps and detergents.

The iPhone 13 can handle submersion at a depth of 6 meters for 30 minutes. But you should think twice before taking your iPhone 13 on your next adventure. Don’t leave any chance of harming it. Make sure you seal off your iPhone by using a waterproof case. A simple plastic case can be OK for shallow water.
