Apple TV OS is an operating system developed by the Apple company. It was known as Apple TV Software from 2010 to 2014. 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV software did not have third party application support. Later, with the 4th generation Apple TV software, they provided support for third party applications. And the Apple TV software was named tvOS. Apple tvOs become familiar with the iOS operating system.

TvOS expansion from the beginning to today
Among those released in Support OS, the 2nd generation supports iOS 4, iOS 5, iOS 6, and iOS 7. 3rd generation supports iOS 5, iOS 6, iOS 7, iOS 8. HD supports iOS 9, iOS 10, iOS 11, iOS 12, iOS 13, iOS 14, iOS 15 and iOS 16.
Apple TV 4 software has various upgrades and the first 4.0 was first released on September 01, 2010. Later, various upgrades took place and the software changed to 4.4.4, which was finally released on December 15, 2011.
The basic level of Apple TV 5 software, 5.0, was released on March 7, 2012. It also underwent various upgrades up to the 5.3 software version and it took time until June 19, 2013.
The later software introduced its Apple TV software 6 as 6.0 basic version on September 23, 2013. It also underwent various upgrades and finally Apple TV software 6.2.1 was released on September 17, 2014.
Apple TV software 7 was upgraded a lot and it was first released as 7.0 on September 17, 2014. It was then upgraded to 7.9 on 17 occasions.
Apple TV software 9 and 10 were released with many upgrades from October 29, 2015 to May 15, 2017.
Apple TV tvOS 11 software was released on September 19, 2017 and after it was upgraded to 11.4.1, Apple TV tvOS 12 was released. It was on September 17, 2018. Then Apple TV tvOS version 13, 14, 15, 16 came out respectively. The latest Apple TV tvOS 16 version was released on January 23, 2023.

When the Apple TV App store was first released, they focused on things like cooking apps and games. Now this is focusing on music, video, entertainment, Amazon, YouTube and Netflix.

Apple introduced multi-user support along with account switching. This allows personalized apple tv without interfering with other people’s accounts.
